Crisol, Spanish for melting pot, is an
ensemble that has been performing in the Philadelphia area since the Fall of
1997. This group is dedicated to the interpretation of a variety of folk and
traditional music genres from Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and other parts of
Latin America. Mexican huapangos popularized by Cuco Sánchez and Lola Beltrán,
boleros written by Silvia Rexach, Rafael Hernández, and Los Panchos, and Cuban
sones including those by Miguel Matamoros and Compay Segundo constitute much of
the group′s repertory.
Some of the venues we have performed at are: Taller Puertorriqueño, The
Philadelphia Museum of Art, Mexican Cultural Center events, Penn's Landing,
Moravian College, Andrea's Salon, Chestnut Hill College, Temple University,
University of Pennsylvania, MCP-Hahnemann University, Drexel University,
Swarthmore College, Villanova University, Department of Labor, VA Hospital,
The Environmental Protection Agency, Bethlehem Music Festival, and many
more.
Crisol is available as a 1 - 5 piece band, for weddings, parties, special
